The BEST Recovery Drink

This morning we woke up in Glen Rose, TX and mosied on over to run the Texas Super Spartan.  We got zero photos of our own so I’ll wait until the official results and race photos are published before I do a full recap, but trust me it was rainy, muddy, and SO MUCH FUN 🙂Anyway

Because it’s the holiday season and we could all use a hot drink on a cold and nasty day like today…here’s a recipe for a warm and fuzzy holiday staple.  It’s simple but oh, so good.


2 Bottles Red Wine
1/2 c Brandy
1 Cinnamon Stick
Juice and Zest of 1 Orange
Pinch Sugar (coconut crystals might work well)

Combine all in a saucepan.  Keeping on medium-low heat (do NOT allow to boil), ladle into mugs and garnish with a cinnamon stick.

I’m sure there are better race recovery drinks out there, but ’tis the season!

The Man and I are both a little banged up but we were both top finishers in our heat (I was the top female but I got owned by the ladies of the first heat) and we left smiling and full of free BBQ and Zico coconut water.

We’re definitely still screaming inside for delicious protein to soothe our aching muscles, and since I didn’t have time to prepare them during the week, tonight’s dinner is beef tongues and a big ass salad.  Again, recipe and pictures will come later as long as it doesn’t suck.

  1. You definitely need to pace yourself with this one…or not ;)You can easily double it and make it in a crock pot if you've got company. Let me know how it goes!
